Smokers are the worst litterers. Almost all of them think it's OK to throw their spent cigarette on the ground wherever the hell they feel like. Even if there's a f***ing ashtray right next to them.
I don't like smokers and try not to be around them or associate with them if I can help it. I think businesses should discriminate against smokers as they please. I don't think the government should force businesses to discriminate against them though.

Smoking bans make the problem with litter much worse, They have meant the removal of ashtrays which have caused cigarette butts to be thrown on the ground.

Kinda like people who drink bottled water. Water bottles are all over the world and they will take centuries to decompose.
"that risks the health of everyone exposed to it"
I find it ironic how many make that claim and NOT ONE SOLE responded to my post #177 which debunks the study about 2nd hand smoke, INCLUDING YOU.
Most people , like yourself, do NOT want to now the truth so you ignore it which allows you to keep making the same ignorant claim.
Here in Minnesota we have been dealing with a smoking ban on restaurants and bars. The ban was struck down state-wide, except in the counties that surround Minneapolis/St. Paul. Many people are upset that smoking is not allowed in public places. I for one am extremely happy for this because I simply don't like the smell of cigarette smoke and all other types. My wife and kids have severe asthma so that is yet a more important reason for not wanting to be around the smoke.
Many people of course are whining that their rights are being taken away by these bans that have been in place for about a year now. My take on it is what about the rights of nonsmokers? What about the rights of people like my young kids who have asthma and can't go out to restaurants if there is a smoking section? It's a controversy where there are no winners...and everyone loses...like my mother-in-law who died due to smoking.
Anti-psychotic. That's what cigarettes are: an anti-psychotic, and the worlds' most popular. We've had no smoking in most public places in Canada now for a quarter of a century. Deliberately blowing smoke in someone's face is considered assault.
Now we're legalizing cannabis. That's going to be a mess. I was down in the noisy Casino in San Bernadino in April and couldn't believe the level of smoke, noise, and left. That ended up saving a lot of money!
Years ago in the early eighties I was on a few committees that rented older affordable buildings. If you asked someone to keep the smoking down due to your flu or poor ventilation my "bros" would deliberately blow smoke in your face, or treat you like you've asked them to sever their index figure as a show of allegiance. Even in Native Casinos outside city jurisdictions, smoking is way, way down up here.
I took a friend to Reno who was born premature, and is healthy but very reactive physically to comtaminants. Took her to the only place I could find the was both chic and clean: a gay bar!!!!
No it doesn't. That's never been proven. The only way it effects anyone is if they are shotgunning the second hand smoke. It's too diluted to be of any concern to anyone's health.
If it was THAT dangerous, they would step in and restrict access to cigarettes. This is exactly what they did when opioid prescription drugs started becoming a health concern, they went straight to the manufacturers and those supplying the drugs, they also targeted access, to make them very hard to obtain.
Keep in mind, the tobacco industry is EXTREMELY powerful and influential, they even have more power than the pharma industry.
