I'd say compared to most Americans I'm still just recently an American.

Nobody labels anybody.

America rules in the sense that EVERY heritage conceivable has found a home here. Heritage is a pretty cool thing when you use it as a compass for understanding your family history, etc. Nothing to spit on, at all.

Second time you call Lationos "Native Americans". When you have no clue about history, you shouldn't be talking here.

Actually a lot of latinos are Native Americans. Many of the illegal Mexicans coming here are of either pure or mostly indigenous stock. I'm the opposite I'm mostly of European stock with a small amount of indigenous blood. I'm often mistaken for a white American which is dumb because a lot of people think Hispanics have to be brown

Fact is that it IS used as a racial term. Dosen't matter what the dictionary says. So I would call you white too.

Anyway, he is probably referring to Tx etc. He seems to be a bit delusional.

I have to agree with you but since I have 2 Spanish last names and was born in Latin America, the US government still feels I have to be labeled a minority because I'm of Hispanic/Latino heritage even though in Spain I'd be classed as just another Spaniard

Well, that's just how I look at it. A white person born in Mexico/South America is called Lation. So you'd call Mccain Latino too. I wouldn't call a white person born in Africa black, born in Asia Asian etc. I don't know why they do it like this.

I have no idea either but yes technically you can say McCain is Latino having been born in the Panama Canal Zone. But I think the US government STILL only reserves the Hispanic/Latino category to people with origins south of the United States in the Spanish Americas and Spain. Interestingly blacks are also classed as Hispanic/Latino (look at the Dominican Republic) as are Asians but not people north of Spain. It's complicated.
