WASHINGTON The Homeland Security Department has done a poor job overseeing the purchase of billions of dollars of equipment and technology since the agency was created five years ago, according to a federal report scheduled for release today.

Senior department officials have "not provided the oversight needed" to ensure that purchases "with important national security objectives" function properly and stay on budget, according to Congress' Government Accountability Office (GAO).

It's about time someone else noticed it....They've given money away like it's water to every backwoods police dept and fire dept around and the waste is ufb......A fire dept in a town of around 3,500 population just north of me recieved a "$150,000"(if I remember right that was the amount stated) trailer to help in case of a "terrist" attack.....The Fire Chief was on the news (sans teeth) bragging about it and showing it off....It was just a Wells Cargo type trailer ($ 5,500 new if you bought it yourself),a John Deere Gator(roughly $8,500) ,a few water jugs($20 maybe),some cheap tyvek suits ( $1 a piece) and a generator (let's give it a high price and say $1,500).....let's add another $1,000 for the lettering on the side, extra lights and other misc BS and had you purchased it yourself you would have a grand total of less than $20 grand in it ....This "terrist" fightin' trailer was given to a dept. in the middle of a GIANT corn field where there is no town with a population of greater than a 1000 people for nearly a 50 mile radius and who is staffed with political flunkies kids who drive jacked up 4x4 trucks and still wear mullets.....they can't pour pee out of a boot with instructions on the heel, much less "fight terrists"....4 or 5 years from now the whole mess will be divided up and sold to members of the city board as outdated equip...Bubba will get the trailer for $500 to haul his micro sprint race car to the track,Junior will get to buy the Gator for $1,500 to use at his farm and hunting cabin and Billy Bob will get the generator for $100 to use at his fishing camp.Times this by millions upon millions and that's where your wasted tax money goes..up in smoke.

I called HS right from the VERY beginning as a worthless money pit with NO oversight whatsoever and a place for political lackeys and their kids and relatives to work that were to stupid for any other position in the govt(and if you are to stupid to work elsewhere in govt, you don't even have walking around sense)AND to make defense vendors and contractors richer by the second..."You don't want us to spend money fightin' these here terrists?? You must be a commie terrist yore sef"..... F'off.

BTW....Did ya see the HS officer busted on "To Catch a Predator"? That was sweet
