Karzai: Obama promises to fight terror in region - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081123/ap_on_re_as/as_afghanistan - broken link)

So much for bringing everyone home within 16 months ehh? I guess the voters never saw it coming?

No, No...

Not "bring them home"

"Pull them out of Iraq"

But the general consensus among the uninformed was that he was going to bring our troops home, it's still all over the web. And yes I know quite clearly the differences between the two locations and what he originally said, and I'm pretty sure during campaigning that he never said he would nearly double the force in afghanistan.

Disclaimer: I am not an Obama hater, but I do question how much his voters actually knew about him and his policies.

Sun still rises in east! Sky still blue! Right-wingers still dumb*!

Some things never change...

* Dumb in this case would refer to pointing to something that has not changed and saying Why didn't this change? as if change can only come in 100%- or 0%-sized packages. Yup, that's dumb!

If the troops would have gone into Afghanistan instead of Iraq in the first place, Al Queda and the Taliban would have been, more or less defeated long before now. Not to mention Osama Bin Laden (if he is actually still alive.)

McCain and Obama on Afghanistan - TIME

Does this not say what he always intended to do in Afghanistan before he won?He has always pledged more support for them.I have heard him say it many times. You should fact check yourself before making a erroneous statements.Your reputation is at stake not Obama's.

Um.. hellow.. Afghanistan is where we are supposed to be!!

Maybe NOW we'll capture Bin Laden..

and we'll get out of Iraq in which many , if not most, of our troops will be home and out of Iraq.

we were looking for more focus on trhe REAL issue.. and now we're going to get it.. finally.

Actually, yes. Refocusing our efforts on Afghanistan and getting out of Iraq is exactly the change I voted for.

You never heard him say that Afghanistan and Pakistan were the critical fronts? That McCain's continued focus on Iraq was just more waste of time? Meanwhile, we have close to 150,000 troops in Iraq. The request in Afghanistan is for an additional 20,000. That leaves 130,000 to be bringing home. Obama's Afghan pledge was reportedly for increased (economic and military) aid. Not troops.

Hmmm...and I question the sincerity of self-proclaimed non-Obama-haters who go around suggesting that 62 million people actually voted for a pig in a poke when they don't have their own story straight.
