Welcome to Adulthood.
Here is a news flash for you -

For decades (actually over a century), there have been CHRISTMAS displays in the town square, there have been CHRISTMAS plays at public schools, there have been the singing of CHRISTMAS carols of all sorts in the same schools. People have been going around wishing others Merry CHRISTMAS. There have been religious type displays put up at the public library and so on, and so on

Now, people like you are trying to stop all that - well, the backlash against people like you is starting -

There is nothing wrong with the CHRISTMAS tree - the city sponsored CHRISTMAS tree lighting ceremony (and the National Tree) and so on -

Tradition is what some would call it - and a vast majority of Americans like the tradition. But, some "minorities" claim they are "offended", "hurt", "devastated"

Well tough!

We are coming up to Christmas with all of its wonder and delights. AND, to most, the recognition of the birth of that Baby in Bethlehem.

Welcome to the REAL world -

All semantics, and obviously you missed my disclaimer that some places of business are open... however I work for the government, and our list of "official holidays" includes Christmas, but no other religious holiday. So what is your response to that?

So - it is a government holiday - so what? So is MLK day (should never have been). So is Columbus day - So is Labor Day - And, as I pointed out (to which you agreed) certain Jewish Holidays are also taken -

But, it is not a mandated holiday in the public sector - trying to compare government holidays to private sector holidays is comparing apples to oranges - ludicrous.

Think about it - Christmas is recognized by some 90% of the US population (then add to the mix the worlds population) - it is very fair to recognize the day that most do

Nope - not at a public library, which I should know considering I manage one. We are allowed to put up holiday decorations, but nothing that is overtly religious in nature (i.e. Santa is allowed, Jesus in the manger is not). That has always been the case with public institutions... and FYI, Christmas trees are not religious symbols, so I don't think anyone has a problem with those.

People like whom? I certainly haven't tried to stop anything, and I don't think anyone else here would either... are you just believing the media hype, or have you actually been a "victim" of anti-Christmas scrooges?

Well tough!
Your use of quotations around minority and offended show you have little respect for anyone but yourself... and the "well tough!" only solidifies that. So you go on thinking you're more special, and I'll continue ignoring Christmas as I always do - if this country would let me, although it's getting harder & harder each year.

Not everyone in this country celebrates your precious holiday, so you'll just have to accept that... welcome to the REAL world.

How is that ludicrous? My whole point was that it's the ONLY religious holiday that is an official government holiday... you can argue with me in circles all you want, but that is a fact - in black & white on my "city holidays" list at work. I don't care if it is, just wanted to point out that you already receive special treatment, and thus the whining is getting old.

Funny how these debates always claim we (non-celebrators) are the ones complaining, and yet I've only ever heard whining from the Christmas side... waaaaaah, somebody wished me a Happy Holidays, waaaaaaah, there's no baby Jesus display at City Hall, waaaaaah, I only get 2 days off that week. Pot, meet kettle... LMAO.

Oh - I don't get any special treatment - where did you come up with that idea?

And that 10% of people are still Americans, and the majority doesn't have the right to bully them.

Maybe growing up non-Christian in a Christian-dominated society gave me that idea... unless you have experienced that, it is futile for me to try and explain.

Get some more Jews in your town and you might get to have Yom Kippur off like they do around here.
