Any school that would prevent a student's wearing a cross has gone far over the line and the ACLU would be more than happy to step in, if asked.
Got a link? I would love to follow up on it!
The ACLU doesn't give a jack about any student wearing a cross. A child was sent home from school a few years back for singing Silent Night on the playground and the ACLU did squat about it.

I know a school in my area that won't let kids wear a cross. I don't know if there has been an outcry by the parents, but i think something should be done to protect the rights of children who want to wear one. I mean by wearing a cross, it doesn't mean anyone is pushing their religion on anybody. They are just wearing something they feel comfortable with and are proud of.

So, I repeat - got a link?
It's easy to bash folks with no data. If a school allows, for example, an ankh or a pentacle or a star of david, then they have to allow a cross. If they ban them all, it's different. (Though I would still love to know why!)
And, if Camaro Guy is right in his implication that the ACLU was asked and chose not to get involved (or did squat, as he put it), then I want to hear from the ACLU what their issue is with it.
How is that Monalisa?? How can you tell the difference? Do tell.
I say "Merry Christmas" too.. and I think if you don't like it..Oh well then bite me! Saying Happy Holidays to someone just covers all Holidays.. such has Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years all rolled into one.
I meant that it seems like Christianity in this country has become an easy target. Some schools won't let kids wear a cross to school, but if that same school told a Muslim he couldn't wear something symbolizing his religion, you would have Muslim groups and the ACLU picketing the school. We have to be sensitive to other people's beliefs, but it seems it doesn't matter when it comes to the Christians. Just my opinion.
Since when aren't kids allowed to wear crosses? I work with kids all day, and see plenty of crosses - especially on the Latino children, which is about 80% of the population where I work. But this is (overall) a very liberal area, so if anyone is "stifling Christianity" we would be the first. I would also like to request a link to this story, because it sounds pretty fabricated to me.
Keep PC out of celebrations. It's useful for some major issues, but give it a rest with celebrations and entertainment.
Have you read any of this thread? Just because somebody says Happy Holidays, that doesn't mean they're trying to be "PC" - and it also doesn't mean they are offended by Merry Christmas.
