Holidays (holy days) are not exclusive to Christianity! Some of us appear to need a bit of "diversity training"!

Like the school district in Dearborn MI outlawing pork products because of the Muslim students. Like where in hell was the ACLU there on seperation of church and state??

Yannow, it's funny how you go on about "made up holidays", yet support Christmas. When Christmas was made up to run out the Pagan holiday that took place at the exact same time. Every holiday is "made up", but we celebrate them all the same.
My main problem is that we give goverment recognition to Christian holidays and no other holidays. If I get off for Christmas, I want to get off (with pay, like my wife does) for any other "major religious holiday". Why give Christianity preference? That sounds like a sure violaiton of the establishment clause to me.

Its because Christianity has by far the most adherants in the USA. We also have to pay the kosher tax on foods but I don't hear anyone heming and hawing about that.

I don't care what religion has the majority in the US. The government is still not allowed to promote one religion over another. And to declare Christian holidays only as national holidays is doing just that.

Pretty soon, it will be December 26, Christmas Day will be behind us, and then we can all start arguing about whether or not to say Happy New Year...since January 1 is not the beginning of the year on quite a few calendars around the world.

Thank you. Everybody is trying to cloud Christmas with other issues. It is what you said and will always be.

I fall under this umbrella too. I was raised Lutheran, am agnostic, and I celebrate Christmas. The same goes for most other agnostics I know and even some atheists.

We can also fight about Boxing Day vs. first day of Kwanzaa.

Ahhh, "Boxing Day". . . when the servants get to "box up" the leftovers to take home to their starving families. . . . what a happy thought! (well, OK, maybe the families aren't "starving", but meat and dessert might be a nice change from potatos, once a year!)
