i used to. i recall posting bail for a good friend of mine in OK who spent close to 3 days in the hokey- and thousands in fines, court costs, etc.- for about 3 joints worth, which is just stupid. 'lock em up' is not necessarily the wrong approach - so long as we're talking about violent scumbags.

That's ridiculous. To be honest though, no drug charges in any US state are comparable to the charges in Thailand or China. Selling even a little bit of marijuana (no more than a few grams) can get you a $100,000 fine and 30 years in prison.
