I agree with you it is quite strange...Some how I have to agree with Speaker Pelosi after reading the posted article. "why re-enstate the weapons ban when they can't even enforce the laws on the books they have right now."

I'm not sure yet how to interpret this...maybe unwillingness/fear to get into this issue and lose elections, maybe trying to get us to let our guard down and get surprised when it passes suddenly, who knows...obviously there is some friction between Pelosi and O.

Wink Job Security.

The Speaker of the House wants to keep her job.

Almost 2/3's of the Senate just voted to repeal the DC gun and semi-auto ban.

During the last session of Congress (Sept 17) the House voted 266-152 to repeal the DC ban. 85 members of the majority party defied their party bosses with a vote to liberate DC.
Some faces in Congress have changed , but support for firearms civil rights remains very high.

RINOs like McCain and Bush never really wanted Americans to own high powered semi-auto "assault rifles". Puts too much power with the people instead of the gubmint. They only played to NRA types for a voter base. Once there was enough power gathered by the federal government, they could just strip away the 2nd amendment as a last straw since surveillence methods would be perfected and the people would be too scared not to comply.

DC handgun ban and a nation wide assult weapon ban are two different issues, but this presents a great dilemma for Pelosi haters. They are forced to agree with her, and that won't be easy.

Political survival always trumps political correctness. All guns are scary looking when they are pointed in your direction.

The people in the crowd "swept" by this political opportunist probably agreed with your assessment.

That is indeed a very scary monent. Obviously the woman does not know or understand gun safety. She needs instruction. I can only hope, but would NEVER assume, that thing was unloaded.
