"Illinois' embattled governor complained through his spokesman Saturday that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is guilty of a conflict of interest in that Reid telephoned him in early December to discuss the seat being vacated by President-elect Barack Obama."

Hmmmm... A phone call to discuss the seat being vacated does not mean there was any wrongdoing.

Also, Blago is just trying to save his own skin.

This crap goes on in every state. Usually it's kept a little more quiet.

The only thing Reid is guilty of is being completely useless.

I'm not sure of that.

Personally, I think most politicians - especially seasoned politicians - regularly go right up to the line of unethical & illegal, and flirt with it. It's how politics is played.

In addition, there is SO MUCH that is very gray. Would it have been illegal for even Barack Obama to have called Blago, to discuss possible Senate replacements? On one level, it would have made perfect sense.

Ruth Ann Minner both sought and received advice as to who might be chosen to replace Joe Biden when he resigns the Senate. But when she talked to people about that, she didn't say, Well, since you like this guy, how much are you willing to pay me to pick him? That would seem to be something of an area of difference between Minner and Blagojevich...

At least he's para-legalized prostitution in DC.

Mr. Reid seems clean in this case.

If that is the case, and now he wants to block the newly appointed senator from taking office, then the new appointee can't be that bad.
