That's for sure. They're just tripping over themselves apologizing for anything Israel does.

It just say alot about this country that the "better alternative" party is mainly a bunch of spinless, unprincipled, blowhards, deathly afraid of speaking up for justice.

Glenn Greenwald - Salon.com

"This afternoon, the Democratic-led U.S. Senate did just that by enacting -- via a cowardly voice vote -- a completely one-sided, non-binding resolution that expresses unequivocal support for the Israeli war, and heaps all the blame for the conflict on Hamas and none of it on Israel. Harry Reid -- who jointly sponsored the Resolution with GOP Leader Mitch McConnell -- proudly proclaimed: "When we pass this resolution, the United States Senate will strengthen our historic bond with the state of Israel." On its website, AIPAC is already patting the U.S. Senate on its head for "for conveying America's unequivocal and steadfast support for Israel's right to self-defense."

Interesting article. Thanks for posting it. But I would not be so hasty to dismiss the "better alternative party" as being "mainly a bunch of spinless, unprincipled, blowhards, deathly afraid of speaking up for justice." Nothing happens in a vacuum. People who support Israel do so within a HISTORY of conflict, not just within the context of this conflict, in particular. In addition, many of these people, especially the older ones, carry the memory of the Holocaust, and so Hamas' stated declaration (from its inception) to destroy Israel and all Jews, and that they will settle for nothing less than that destruction, resonates in a way that might be difficult for younger people or non-Jews to understand. This aligning one's self with one side, and then villifying and hating the other, merely replicates the long-running stalemate in the Middle East itself. And that hasn't really worked, has it? We should be trying to understand each other, and differing positions, rather than heap hatred on each other.

On another note: From the site you posted, I noticed a link to a new Jewish organization: J Street. It will be interesting to see the development of this organization.

There is no such stated or unstated declaration by Hamas. It doesn't exist.

Sorry, but you are wrong:

Article Seven: The Universality of Hamas

...the Hamas has been looking forward to implement Allah’s promise whatever time it might take. The prophet, prayer and peace be upon him, said: The time will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews (and kill them); until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: O Muslim! there is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him!

That doesn't refer to all Jews anywhere in the world. One would have to be in denial not to notice that Hamas's main enemies are, in fact, Jews and that they do, in fact want to kill them. However, that single statement, when set in the context of many other statements in which they explicitly draw a distinction between Jews and Zionists, and state that Jews and Christians would be welcome in a future Islamic Palestinian state, clearly does not refer to an overall plan of worldwide extermination.

Looking back at the source statement you claim was in error, the Hamas Charter clearly does call for the killing of Jews as claimed in their statement.

Never mind it's from the Koran

No it doesn't. They are taking portions of the Koran to justify their fight against the Jews....The Bible is full of these passages. They don't offer a context where they say this validates the killing of all Jews. In fact Hamas outlines the quote by using the term "Zionist invaders"..That's what the quote is refering to.

You're just spinning it to give it the most extreme interpretation.
