So what is it about male homosexual culture that makes them not want to wear condoms?
How is it that you (generally speaking, not you specifically) need MY approval of your relationship to make you not sleep around? I don't cheat on my wife...not because I somehow need YOUR approval of my relationship...but because of all the negative ramifications that go along with that kind of behavior.
Most gay men do wear condoms when they're having anal sex. It's incorrect to suggest that most do not.
Your approval as an individual isn't needed to encourage gay men to be less sexually promiscuous, but collectively, if society is telling gay men that their long-term relationships aren't valued, then that has an affect on their behavior. This, on top of simply having a male sex drive, makes it no surprise that the average gay man has a relatively high number of sex partners throughout his life.
All of us are affected by the attitudes and beliefs of those around us. This is basic sociology. It's very difficult to completely separate ourselves from the opinions of the majority. Our attitudes influence those around us; we are influenced by others as well.
Gay people consider 3 months in a relationship to be a very long time. LOL

And yet they also have much higher rates of STDs...hm, this is perplexing...

I don't disagree with you. As I said, when you use a tool for something other than its intended purpose, there are going to be problems. Either you accept those risks or you don't...but AIDS doesn't care.
Reality has a way of smacking people around a bit when they try to pretend that they can behave any way they want without any consequences.
How is it blanket? I'm talking about all the gays I know. I am gay. So I would know.
Society does have some influence on gay relationships but in your home you have a choice to do as you please. In your gay relationships you have a choice to make it a quality relationship.
The gays who buy into homophobia, fundamentalist spiritual beliefs and conservative politics are confused sheep.

I don't think you should consider you and your friends to be a scientifically accurate representation of all of the gay people in the world.
In my little circle of friends and acquaintances, I've been frustrated that there aren't MORE single guys around. For awhile, every gay guy I knew was either dating or in a long-term relationship.
Especially in terms of gay women, your little joke is even more inaccurate. In fact, the joke about gay women is:
And yet they also have much higher rates of STDs...hm, this is perplexing...
Yes, that's because, as we've agreed, anal sex is quite risky in terms of diseases, so it doesn't take much unprotected anal sex to contract a disease. I can tell you're a smart person, so I don't think you should be perplexed.
