Anarchists are not just teenagers in Black Leather throwing petrol bombs into malls. Nor is anarchism simply the abolition of the state. Individualist and self-styled Anarchists have made compelling arguments regarding the freedom of the individual from obligatory participation in the state if he feels the state is impeding his progress.
Orwell was a Socialist. But he did not fight communists. He fought nationalists and fascists. The Republicans were allied with Socialists, Communists, Anarchists, and just Liberals. Orwell hated totalitarianism, not necessarily communism.
That said, I still can't believe you didn't see the quite apparent sarcasm.
You're right, I stand corrected.
My post was the right answer to the wrong question. I meant to dispel the notion Orwell supported communism, which he vlearly did not. Orwell lived in a time where the difference between socialism and communism was clear - thus the National Socialists.
In America (I don't know if you are here), there is a current movement propagated through right wing talking heads and their church lackeys to equate socialism with communism and lace it with fear of the twisted Stalinist version.
Thanks for the correction, I am wiser for it. Rep points for you Frost!
Well the 1 billion people that were behind the communist wall. Karl Marx and his teachings and the very broad espionage program the communist had along with all it's global advancements throughout history. Disregarding those facts then you can come up with "it's right wing propaganda".
The truth is socialism takes away your individualism and makes you just part of the masses no more no less (of course that's human...stick in a big box and slowly crush the box inward till you have guided them to your desires). The masses require leadership and then the phrase "absolute power corrupts absolutely" steps in. The masses dissent and in a socialist/communist environment that is just not acceptable. The success rate of the communist/socialist regimes and their prosperity speak more for their ill wills than anyone could on a forum.
by world standards which one is wrong and or right
nationalists: ok if not taken to extreme (eg: National Socialists)
fascists: Bad
Socialists, : good functional economic system counter-balances JP Morgan capitalism nicely (Sweden, DMK, etc)
Communists: theoretically good but perennially susceptible to the absolute power theory and always at war with the big bankers
Anarchists: shot McKinley and started the progressive movement (40 hour work week etc)
capitalist: JP Morgan and company is productive but will start wars for profit and enslave the population given the opportunity (Gilded age, Mexican Workers, etc) - would be monarchs.
You forgot Monarchism and Machiavellians: Ain't gone yet, just changed names and work in the bank.

Yeah, the more I think about it the more I actually do see where you could have thought I'd made that mistake.
Wow, why am I even bothering to read CD even more. Is this what it has really come to? Time to turn in my membership card as I would like to be able to blog with progressive people interested in moving the country forward, not people with rodent like minds whose only goal is to spread lies and seeds of hate.
MLK was a registered Republican and a wonderful man. This is crap and is wrong. Respect what the man did and what he represented.
