PELOSI SAYS BIRTH CONTROL WILL HELP ECONOMY
http://d.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20090123/capt.5f8baa434c55480eb2a99261e09f4bde.obama_whre10 9.jpg?x=400&y=286&q=85&sig=gum_38d9hrSCe4oWe4sYfQ-- (broken link)

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi boldly defended a move to add birth control funding to the new economic "stimulus" package, claiming "contraception will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government."

Pelosi, the mother of 5 children and 6 grandchildren, who once said, "Nothing in my life will ever, ever compare to being a mom," seemed to imply babies are somehow a burden on the treasury.

The revelation came during an exchange Sunday morning on ABC's THIS WEEK.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services. How is that stimulus?

PELOSI: Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children's health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those - one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.

STEPHANOPOULOS: So no apologies for that?

PELOSI: No apologies. No. we have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy.

Go Nancy! The fewer people the better, the less of a burden on the rest of us and the environment. It's good to see logic taking precedence over religious superstition

I agree fewer stupid, uneducated people breeding will cut costs for government..
Assistance,Less people in Prison.Less Taxpayer money for programs.
Does planned parenthood fund abortion?
In that case i dont agree with taxpayer money going to low-cost abortions.

Nice to see a multi-pronged long view approach to big issues instead of just some ham-handed short term useless band-aid type fix.
It's about time.

Is that why Pelosi has the same amount of children as Palin?

I agree with Pelosi.

Nothing forced is being proposed, simply better access to family planning.
