They're providing enough "stimulus" to OD the economy.

Although I voted for Obama and had a lot of confidence in him I must go along with John Boehner. IMO, this package will have about as much effect as peeing into the wind. Obama's team reminds me of a group of brain surgeons trying to get a stalled 57' Chevy to start. Barrack...go get Charlie the farmer.

Default Poll: yes or no on stimulus package?

I would vote no, some of it's ok but it does little to nothing to create new buisness which would lead to emplyment.

I would vote yes once the majority of the pork has been filtered out...I know all of it won't be eliminated (which is sad).
Yesterday it was said that for every dollar of spending, it brought a $1.50 return and for every $1.00 in tax cuts, it brought $.75 in return.

I think tax cuts are important (mostly corporate taxes and reducing the taxes that small businesses have to pay) but I would rather focus on job creation.
I don't want to rush the stimulus bill because we won't see immediate results and since it has such a huge price tag, I don't want it to be a huge failure like the bailout for the banks, which shouldn't have been passed in the first place. The government should also try to get the banks to help more homeowners keep their homes. They can try to reduce the loan, lower the monthly payments and/or lengthen out the term of the loan. If home values increase, the equity would go to the bank instead of the homeowners. Once the job market improves and people have more money (hopefully), they can possibly increase the mortgage payments or reduce the length of the loan for people who were helped out by the government. [Of course on an individual basis]

I would vote yes only if the real problem of this economy is dealt with and that is how to restore trust and confidence in the financial market. Stop letting the banks hide their balance sheets. Force all bad debt and bad assets out into the open and default them. Then I will vote for the stimulus.

I read in the newspaper today that the cost for creating each new job would average out to $210,000 per person who received the job. That is four times the average salary for those who are working now. Something stinks!

I would only even think about voting for it if the bailout money actually existed but since it doesn't, it's only adding much more debt to the problem of high debt.

It's time we start paying the piper. We can't put off the inevitable forever simply by throwing trillions of nonexistent dollars at it. Sure people want to continue to eat, drink, and be merry and spend a stimulus check like there's no tomorrow but that only adds to the problem.

And having everyone run out and buy up new plasma tv's made in China, or buy a bunch of clothes made in China, then what? How would that create a single job?
