So if a religion is anti-black, would it be legal for a private school based on that religion to say "No blacks allowed"? If not, how is it different from this case?
Because religious people can no longer get away with using the Bible against blacks like they used to?

It would be perfectly legal for a private school to say "whites only" and there are some that do just that even today.
I dunno, I'm not familiar enough with court cases to judge, but realistically they could just say the student doesn't have enough merit to attend the institution. You don't need to bring race or anything up to actually deny the student attendance.
Well, duh, yeah. That's the point here. Is it legitimate to discriminate based on protected categories in California or not?

It is legal for a private school to do so just as it is legal for a pirvate club to say No Blacks or Jews Allowed. Such things are common in parts of the country like Mississippi.
California is not as liberal in its courts. It is the only state in the USA that allows age discrimination in employment. In California it is totally and perfectly legal for you to work somewhere for 29 years and the company to come and tell you "well you are 55 now and we don't want you anymore" and to terminate you being too old.

Have you never heard of Bob Jones University? While they did not overtly say No Blacks they had a rule against "race mixing" on campus and lost their non exempt tax status for several years. Of course the racist Republicans have always visited this campus and supported its no race mixing policies as do many in the white trash community.
