Tim Geithner cheated on his taxes.

He refused to pay $43,000.

Obama was aware that Tim cheated on his taxes but put him on his team as Treasury Secretary despite criticism.

Couple of threads on this...also, the Secretary of the Treasury does not "fix the economy," if that's what your thread title meant.

Democrats seem to be okay with people cheating on their taxes - so long as the cheater is a Democrat. Tom Daschle, Al Franken...

And yet they say tax cuts won't help the economy. Not paying taxes helped them, didn't it?

Did Obama know about it? I thought this whole thing came out when he was nominated?

It did. In fact, it came out through the vetting process, which includes giving every applicant's taxes a very careful and conservative audit. Geithner promptly made the back tax payments recommended, which included two years he was not technically liable for, plus interest. The OP is simply dredging up a dead issue here for his own amusement...

Completely surprising! Does this sort of thing happen often here on C-D?

if it's a democrat, it's a dead issue with you. If it's a republican, it's perfectly alright to go back months, years, or even decades.
