Default Why can't democrats and republicans get along??

It's getting pretty old now. It's the 21 century. They need to put their differences aside, and help the United States during this eerie time.

When you have one party that believes their stance on the issues is Holy and sent from God Almighty himself, and another who believe that anything opposing their stance is primitivism, this is kinda what you get.

Hoarfrost... you are the reason why they can't get along... ideology... you act like all Repubs are god-worshipping fanatics... they are not.... to answer the OP's question, it is ideology but not just ideology but the FORCING of their ideologies on other people... you have them on both sides... we need less ideology... but that would make both Repubs and Dems lose power and they sure don't want that... it is quite evident since they been elected time and time again....

No, they aren't all God Worshiping fanatics. They're just afraid to keep the God worshiping fanatics in check. So the God worshiping fanatics set the agenda on virtually every social issue.

Is that what your ideology tells you to believe, cause that is sad...

That's like asking why can't we solve world hunger.
It's never going to happen.
Just vote for the person you think has the best ideas or has the least lobbyist money behind him or her and hope for the best.
Better yet: Run for office if you think you can do a better job.

Not ideology, pragmatism and realism. For anyone who's observed the past 8 years or past 30 years for that matter, it's clear that a small but significant group of people has become so instrumental to the party's survival that they're an untapped boon in a good season and an Achille's Heel in a bad one. Thus they've been allowed to run amok because the party can't shed them and can't win without them.

So you are basing the last 8 years as the definitive source for what Republicans are.... sounds like ideology to me....

As a Democrat I am not interested in getting along with the Republicans. I am interested in destroying the Republicans. And I am sure most of them feel the same.
