Is the qoute "I am not racist, I voted for Obama" the new "I am not racist, I have black friends"
I get tired of people saying this hide there prejudice and racial tendancies. It is somewhat comical...discuss?

If a person is a bona fide, malicious racist, the chances of them having voted for Obama (or having black friends) is vanishingly small. I would therefore say the quote is entirely proper, or even conclusive.
Of course, people who are not true racists may still harbor certain prejudices, often times without being aware of it. Probably everyone does, to a smaller or larger extent. But that's not what I would call "racism."

Well, I've never heard anyone say that. I have known some people who have claimed to have "black friends" because there is someone at work who is black that they nod to when they get on the elevator together, but that seems to be a completely different sort of thing to me. Getting along at work at the risk of being fired if you don't is a forced kind of thing. Nobody is forced to vote at all, and if they do vote, people certainly aren't compelled to vote for any black candidate. That would be an entirely voluntary thing, so I think the whole premise of the post is rather invalid...

That's their opinion, just as voting for Obama without a substantial reason is considered being racist is my opinion.

I get tired of the obsession with race, a term that has no scientific definition.

The only way that will happen is when everyone is all the same shade. So interracial dating/marriage is the only viable option.

I get tired of being called a racist because I disagree with many of Obama's ideas and policies.

A white woman on my commuter bus just made this exact comment! After she called a young black woman a "black b----". Maybe it made her feel better?
