Well, even though the argument is more philisophical in nature, the BIG argument is whether he made a bad decision or not. For example, I do not feel he made a bad decision. He must live with the consequences of breaking a law made by a government that runs the piece of earth that he resides on. But he did not make a bad moral decision, as in my opinion, there is nothing morally wrong with smoking a plant.
I understand your opinion. Whereas I would say that he consciously knew he was breaking a law, by smoking a plant which is currently illegal. Consciously breaking the law would be a bad, immoral decision IMO.
The media is blowing this way out of proportion. They're acting like he murdered someone. All he did was smoke marijuana, which shouldn't be illegal in the first place.

You know what else is consciously breaking the law? Speeding. Even if you go over by one mile you are consciously breaking the law... I regularly speed but I would not consider it an immoral decision.
This does not mean I am all for smoking Pot.. Just making a point about breaking the law.. Most of us do it every day on our way to work/school.
The man is human (or superhuman). Anyway, if anything, it says to me that a marijuana user can be a winner!! If anyone says pot smokers are losers, I'll respond, "Oh, yeah? Whaattabout Phelps, eh?"

He made a very bad decision.... he picked the wrong USC to smoke pot at.... shoulda done it at Southern Cal instead of South Carolina.
I am a parent, and I want my son to know that if you make a poor decision, there may be consequences.
A few of my elementary students brought this up today. "Did you see that Michael Phelps smoked marijuana?" All I said was, "Yes, I saw. He made a bad decision and will have to deal with any consequences".
excuse me but didn't some of our presidents smoke the same????? did it hurt their future ??+

OMG here we go again ,immoral decision ??? please give us a break. we don't ( at least i don't ) or can't walk on water. and we shouldn't be expected to. we all have and will continue to make mistakes in our lives
Im so sick of this well he won gold medals so he is a good guy BS. He had a DUI and now we find out he smokes weed, sorry but this guy should go away. I find people who drive drunk to be disgusting selfish human beings. They put their own pleasure of getting drunk over risking lives of everyone on the road. Phelps can go to hell in my book.
