Good luck with your boycott.....
Exactly! Knowing Kellog's they have a tight contract with a Morality Clause. Morality clauses cover just that particular issue - any behavior by a spokesperson that casts a bad light on a company or casts the company as having a reputation they don't want. For instance, an athlete signs up to represent such-and-such company and next thing you know he/she's on YouTube caught in the act of doing 'something'. Companies use a morality clause to protect themselves for just such a circumstance. Often in that clause they will, in great detail, list what behaviors they consider inappropriate. The celebrity signs it, they agree. A company like Kellog might also have some kind of Refund Clause of any monies advanced in case the contract is breached due to violation of the morality clause; and a clause for any product that can't be sold due to the scandal. There's probably also some kind of penalty if they have to use an alternate Celebrity B or C to represent them as a spokesperson mid-stream in the marketing of a product.

I understood that Kellog's had a contract with Phelps that will run out in 1-3 months anyway. they're just cutting a few losses.

So then you are that narorw minded then I see.

Michael Phelps who hits a bong at a college party is like MLK who fought police and was beaten for civil rights. See how stupid your point is when you read it? Maybe your using a little to much of the cannabis

Actually, they are keeping their end of that contract. All they did was announce that they would not sign him to a new one. What does he care? He's a multimillionaire at 23.

I get the feeling you're being obtuse on purpose.

Both MLK and Phelps broke laws. The laws MLK broke were unjust, thus history has vindicated him for breaking them. The point now, is that the sheer fact that Phelps broke a law shouldn't put him in the wrong.

No one is saying the magnitude is the same, but the principle of evaluating a law rather than blindly accepting it is.

No, Michael Phelps apologized for it. MLK never apologized for breaking segregation laws as far as I know.

Breaking an unjust law is civil disobedience, and is a moral but risky stance in my opinion, whether a pothead or MLK does it.

I would say breaking a law for civil rights a little more meaningful and breaking it to allow weed to be legal. You want to say it should be legal fine. However to say Pot heads are discriminated against just like blacks were in the 50's is a pretty dumb statement. Unless you see some people going around lynching potheads, which I never had. Not even on the same level.

No, he'd get a reality TV show like Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian and the rest of the sex tape people...

Not that I have any personal experience with this....
Oh well, they'll have to move on to Fruit Wheels and Apple Dapples.

You think drinkers of alcohol throwing smokers of pot in jail is not discrimination? Just because it doesn't go as far as lynching, it's not discrimination?
