No it's not. You don't understand what "stimulus" means.

As an analogy - consider a young family. They might choose to go into debt in order to earn an education that will increase their earnings later. That's all this is. Spending more now, on infrastructure, education, energy technology, and assistance, to improve our capabilities in the future. It would be nice if we werent' already so far in debt because of GWB, but that's the hand that we're dealt right now (although perhaps those of you who cheerleaded Bush should just sit down and listen for awhile - that would be nice).

Chill and don't stake out ground until it passes. At one point it was proclaimed that the first stimulus bill would pass on first approval and it didn't. It is a tentative deal and needs to have the blanks filled in, read by individual Senators for them to sign on. Thus far you only have rumors and off the record that there is a deal.

Do you know what has been removed and what is still in? There may still be issues that could come out in conference still.

You are right. But I think it's great news. And as you said, 90% of what goes on here is pure opinion. And it's always nice to throw actual evidence in the face of the "Obama is failing!" crowd.

Don't be sure about it passing until it does. There are Senators from states that have serious budget issues who are demanding the education money not be removed and much has. The compromise is not good for Calif and Diane Feinstein is not happy. Don't be surprised if there is an attempt to put money back in during conference.
