I realize it would be pointless to ask any of the war's supporters to try and justify all the Iraqi dead since the invasion but I wonder how those in favor of the war in Iraq can justify all these Americans coming home in caskets.

Is it because you think:

1) The cause is just
2) The war was a mistake, but we have to "finish the job"
3) ___________ (other)

Just wondering

(For the record, I think even one dead American is one too many. Therefore I have never tried to reconcile any of these deaths as justified. I believe they are all in vain.)

Well, they followed the orders of an idiotic president AND congress.... If they didn't want to follow the lemmings over the cliff, they shouldn't have... the age of "I was just following orders" is over.... be your own brain...

#3. These lives plus the 100's of thousands of dead Iraqis rest squarely on the shoulder of the lying bastard that started the war based solely on his lies.

The Iraq war doesn't even compare to previous wars in the number of casualities.

Thank god people like you were not prevalent during WWI or WWII. I'm sure they were around, those anti-american pacifists, but fortunately they were considered to be wackos and belonging to left-wing fringe groups.

I can only imagine what you would have said when in one day on the beaches of Normandy the number of soldiers killed equaled and surpassed that of the Iraq war in total - One day.

Another thing that bothers me: News blackout of caskets coming home from Iraq. Americans have been spared the true costs, we are to remain silent and unaware. That is morally reprehensible.

You are playing a numbers game sanrene. And, you cannot compare Iraq to WWII, where an entire nation mobilized and fought for years on two fronts for entirely different reasons. I realize the numbers involved in taking Iwo Jima and Okinawa occurred in a matter of months. On Peleliu, The Marines suffered 1,300 dead, 5,450 wounded and 36 missing in exactly 30 days.

But these were wars against nations. They were two armies fighting against each other. If you compare WWII reasoning to your argumment, you must look at the invasion of Poland in Sept. of 1939, and then you are getting closer to the truth about Iraq

The Iraq war created jobs. Of course, many who got the jobs are now dead.

How exactly is this intended to answer the OP's question? Are you saying that because fewer service people have (so far) been killed and injured in Iraq that the war is justified?

No, it rests squarely on AQI, Iran and the sunni insurgents who killed their own people.

What lies?
