Anything a human believes in to make themselves feel more comfortable can be called a religion. Science, Judaism, Christianity, Voodoo... Whatever. Sorry you can't see the bigger picture. No matter what one you believe in we all end up in the same place and how you justify it is just that....how YOU justify it.
I think the answer to this debate is easy: liberals are intolerant of intolerance.
In our country, that is most powerfully manifest through fundamentalist Christian sects. When they bash Muslims as "terrorists" or homosexuals as, well, "homosexuals", liberals will come to their defense because they have a right to live their life without oppression.
True "liberals" cannot hate Jesus. Jesus was about the most radical social revolutionary in the history of the world. That's why phrases like "religious right" and "Christian conservative" really don't mean anything at all.
I beg to differ. Read the four gospels and you'll realize Jesus was a socialist.
Big difference between giving to the poor out of a humble heart and being taxed against your will only to have those dollars given to people who pimp the system. While you're reading the Gospel, you may notice that tax collectors were not very popular.

Wow, that's a lot of generalizing! As I said on another thread about the Israeli conflict - you do realize about 75% of American Jews vote Democrat, right? I also hate to point out the obvious, but wouldn't you guess that most neo-Nazi/KKK types are Republicans? I have no stats on that, but it seems fairly obvious if you've read the hatred they spew towards liberals (especially since a Black man was voted into office ). So I'm not sure where you get the idea that liberals hate Christians and Jews, because that is VERY far from the truth in my experiences. For the record, I have no problem with the majority of Christians, just the crazy fundie ones... and I have a feeling most liberals would agree, especially the millions who are Christian themselves.

Obama belongs to the party of inclusion but he won't have a female on his ticket even though she would have practically guaranteed a slam-dunk on Nov 4th and a margin of victory he could call a mandate. People tend to say one thing openly and another confidentially. I've said it before, liberals are the worst and most intolerant bigots bar none. It's not conservatives criticizing Israel for acting in her own defense against these terrorists who keep attacking their civilians.
