I am liberal and I have no problem with Christians. Many of my friends and family are Christians and most Christians I have met are genuinely good people. With that said, when most people say why do you not tolarate Christianity what they really mean is why wont you convert to Christianity and allow us to make laws that impose certain parts of Christianity on society. So while I think it is great that we have such a large amount of people in America who are Christians and are inspired to be good by Christianity. I take issue with people trying to impose Christianity on the non-Christians of America through the government.

Context Frank, context. In these religious pissing wars, atheist (myself included) what you are sensing is not a defense of Islam per se as opposed to placing a mirror in front of Islam's super sanctimonious and irrational critics.

PS. Atheist and agnostics have about as much faith in the validity of Islam as they do with little green men from Mars... strike that, there is a higher potential possibility of green men from Mars than Mohammed and his horse ascending to "heaven" while in the Al Aqsa mosque.

Atheism is mostly a movement that provides "cover" for those that hate Christianity, the Christian/White majority in the West, and those that hate Western Civilization. You rarely see "athiests" protest Hinduism in India, Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, Native religions, the Catholicism of Hispanics, black Baptist leaders, etc. It's mostly directed at the West and Whites as cover for hate of ALL of its conventions.

Far too often you find "atheists" that are involved with or overlap with many other vile movements:

Marxism
Socialism
Communism
Anarchism
Liberalism

Unionnism

Eugenics
Feminism

Homosexuality
Freudianism
modern Judeo-Christianity
Psychology
Psychiatry
Diversity
Press Monopoly
Film Monopoly
Paper Money
Monetary Control
Moral Relativity
Secular Humanism

Here, in my opinion, is a good example of the species: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Newdow

To the OP:

You mean the "hick" Christians, like Sarah Palin. The Bible thumpers. The ones who are the super-authoritarian types for religious reasons and don't believe in getting an education about the real world. Those folks are a social threat to our democracy. They shouldn't be listened to about anything to do with the political realm.

Wow.... you honestly have no idea what you're talking about. Atheist simply means that we don't believe in god. Any god, your god, their god, the 5000+ other gods that have existed over the centuries etc etc on and on.

Don't Christians always say 'hate the sin, love the sinner'? Well.... I as an Atheist love Christians as people, I just hate Christianity. Simple.

Hey, I dont think a government should mandate a religion either, but a lot of the hate posts on here are just bashing Christians and most of those from liberals.
As a Christian, I feel perfectly fine about disagreeing with "religious wacko nutjob right wingers," since I'm neither a wacko nutjob, nor right wing. Not all Christians are. If a fellow liberal wants to bash me for being a Christian, I'm totally okay with disagreeing with/thinking less of them, as well.

Liberals don't bash all Christians, well some people on both sides do but not for political party reasons. Liberals just associate the crazy bible thumpers with the right, because they often are one and the same. The difference of ideal is blatant, whether it be gay rights or abortion. And when people see signs that say "God hats f***" at a gay mans funeral, hate is born.

Indeed, It's almost enough to make you think of them as "atheistic wacko nutjob left wingers." But not quite. Just misguided people who never matured in their thinking.

The fact that Jews and Christians have over the ages had a relationship with God makes them enemies of liberals who view the government as their god.

Wow, that's a lot of generalizing! As I said on another thread about the Israeli conflict - you do realize about 75% of American Jews vote Democrat, right? I also hate to point out the obvious, but wouldn't you guess that most neo-Nazi/KKK types are Republicans? I have no stats on that, but it seems fairly obvious if you've read the hatred they spew towards liberals (especially since a Black man was voted into office ). So I'm not sure where you get the idea that liberals hate Christians and Jews, because that is VERY far from the truth in my experiences. For the record, I have no problem with the majority of Christians, just the crazy fundie ones... and I have a feeling most liberals would agree, especially the millions who are Christian themselves.

I have told many Liberals that I am personally offended by the F-word, and had to ask them firmly not to use it in my presence.

And I have told many Christians that I am personally offended by the B-word, and had to ask them firmly not to use it in my presence.

When I hear the word, "FAIR" or "BELIEVE", I have to work really hard to control my temper.

Both groups are a bunch of Con Artists.

Liberals probably hate Christians because they're jealous of those who have better perfected the con game, and over a much longer time period.

I've heard Liberals stoop and try to use the B-word, but it rarely works for them.

I don't think I've ever heard a Christian use the F-word, though.
