So, this is some good news for a change. a homeless lady in the audience made a plea for help from the President at a Fort Myers Florida town hall meeting. She was living in her car, and had been on a 2 year waiting list for housing.
I can speak from experience. We, my spouse and I have lived in our vehicle not too long ago. It is not easy not knowing where you're going to end up, or when and where your next meal is going to come from.
Thank you President Obama, for offering to lend this poor soul a hand! Woman gets home after plea for help at Obama town hall meeting | Daily Record | Daily Record
Why are you thanking Obama? He didnt put her in a house. Did he take money out of his pocket and give it to her?
The title of this thread leads you to think Obama personally found her a house and got her in it
The point is that Obama went out amongst the people and brought attention to many of the problems that everyday American's are facing. During Hurrican Katrina we had people drowning and stranded on rooftops and then given trailers loaded with asbstos. Don't you think this administration or for that matter any other administration could have done better?
This one woman wasn't one of the statistics. She was real and her pain was real. Nobody could deny it. Most of the homeless are just numbers. I slept in a shelter with 50 people on the floor for six months and the worse part was being invisible.
This womans pain reached through that. She was almost immediately offered help. If we don't see faces we don't understand. This woman represented many many more and if her plea led to even one person seeing them it was invaluable for all.
Chene Thompson, wife of Republican state Rep. Nick Thompson, who heard the homeless woman's pleas for help, offered Hughes the house. The house is in LaBelle, the first home Chene Thompson bought after law school. She told Hughes, "Just give me the opportunity to help you."

Oh please Obama went out to try and get support for this bill. We have homeless in this land. No one denies this but the title of this thread makes it seem like Obama personally did something
The reason that Obama was out there was to sell his bill
Which how is this bill going to really help her?
I am very happy that she has a place to live but Obama didnt have anything to do with her getting that other then being there.

Let me ask you this and being a realist. How would it have appeared had she not gotten a place to live?
Sorry I just do not buy this that Obama cares about the little people when he doesnt care for his own family.
I dont think someone that really cares about the little people would allow their aunt that they spoke so loving about in their book would let their aunt live in the slums
That is just my opinion.
Obama started giving to charity when he said Hey I think I'll run for president and then is when he started actually giving money to charity.
