ABC's Extreme Makeover--let's further this movement of pitying those that just don't care to improve themselves--let's give them free cosmetic surgery so we look good and boost our ratings--syndrome is getting old.
The preview of Diane Sawyer's little special tonight on the "poor" sickened me. I care about those that are truly poor through no fault of their own, and I have made a meal for someone or taken a bag of groceries to someone whom I believed to be in need. But to show me a community where the toothlessness is greater than any other part of the country, and then blame it on Mountain Dew....please! Oh, and on top of that, to excuse it by saying they use it as a sort of anti-depressant? ABC, COME ON! Do these folks know that they could eat rice and beans for a week for the cost of a pack of Mountain Dew? Rice and beans are a staple in my house, and I don't want pity for it--I happen to like it. Do they know you can get a toothbrush for a buck, and toothpaste too? I never drink soda--again, please don't pity me. Spare your ooh's and awe's....I PREFER water!! Weird, huh?
Poor is one thing, but please do not equate laziness and poor stewardship with true poverty. The two need not go hand in hand. One woman they showed looked to be a meth addict. (yes, they do have a "look" and believe me, she had it) Their money is going toward drugs, cigarettes, and caffeinated sodas, but I should work even harder to pay for their handouts. Pretty soon, there will be no middle class in America. Keep giving to the..."poor" while the hard working middle class work harder and harder only to find out that more and more of their money is going to pay for meth and....who'd a thunk--Mountain Dew. Yeah, give them food stamps so that whatever's left can go toward their addictions.
If the Poor are so dispicable then we should supply free meth. That would be cheaper than food and wouldn't last as long.
Why would you think the poor are despicable? We are supplying free meth...and free cosmetic surgery too, it would seem. It's the meth that ruined their teeth.
