WASHINGTON – U.S. President Barack Obama will soon issue an executive order lifting an eight-year ban embryonic stem cell research imposed by his predecessor, President George W. Bush, a senior adviser said on Sunday.

"We're going to be doing something on that soon, I think. The president is considering that right now," Obama adviser David Axelrod said on "Fox News Sunday."

Excellent.. now we can get back to work at finding cures at the stem cell level for some awful diseases.

And my brothers field (he's a PHD in genetics) will open up to new progressions!

I anticipate many breakthroughs and cures in the coming years.

Why did Bush ban stem cell research anyway? To please the pro-lifers? He never banned abortions... But remember the block on cheaper Canadian drugs to boost the American big-pharma industry? Well stem cell research is a threat to big-pharma as well. It could lead to many cures, eliminating the need for many drugs and hurting Bush's assets in that market.
