To read TimeBomb 2000 & Tree of Liberty you'd swear we as a nation are in the process of collapse at this very moment w/ empty market shelves and rioting in the streets by next week. Is all this just pure hogwash by a bunch of doom-and-gloom fanatics or are we really in the beginnings of a fast-moving meltdown?

If the idiots in DC continue to talk down the economy, it will continue to get worse, it already has. Barry and his team have been talking it down for over a year and it has taken it's toll.

The leftist would be screaming "Bush is a fear monger" had he said it will be a catastrophe if we don't let the gubmint spend a trillion of your kids dollars by Tuesday. And rightfully so, he spent more than enough as it was.

So what should the average guy do? The doomers say stock up on as much food as you can (among other things) But if this is as bad as they're making it out to be, isn't stocking up on 6 months worth of grub just delaying the inevitable and making it a slow death for ourselves and our loved ones? 95% of the people could barely manage 6 weeks, let alone 6 months. If it's going to be as bad as TB2K says, why stock up just to have theives pillage you to get at your stores?

If you have enought food to last 90 days you have a good chance of making it. After 90 days most of the people will have starved off.

I have my doubts. The have-nots will take from the haves. Only the strongest will survive. Pack mentality will be the rule of law if this gets as bad as the doomers are making it out to be.

That's a tough decision. I was wondering about that myself.

In the 1950's thru 60's there was 2 year supply food for every man woman and child in the US. Then in the 1970's we could feed the world, and we shipped the stored food overseas, and the amount of food was cut to 6 months, this is what the grocery store had in there warehouses behind each store. Only 1 or 2 delivery trucks per week. In the 1990's just in time marketing was developed and the food you see in the isles today waiting to be placed on the shelves is it. 3 days in a snow storm. But we fed the world and it has bit us in the behind.

A lot of it is just politics and media b.s.
It's bad out there but I wouldn't worry about living in a tent city.
