Try 'goosing' one....if it slaps you, it's a 'she'. If it punches you, it's a 'he'. If it's a white goose, it's a 'honky'. If it escapes, and runs away down the street, you MAY just be in for a 'wild goose chase'.

That's about all I know. Hope it helps....

Very carefully because they can be quite vicious and their bite is definitely a lot worse than their honks ...

I always have wondered about this but have always been affraid to ask, it just gives me goose bumps to know the answer now I'm off to find some Geese and take a gander.

Seriously, my daughter (then about 5) was attacked by a large, territorial goose in an uncle's backyard....NOT funny at all. Had several NASTY bites, many bruises, and lots of 'bad dreams' for some time to come. Luckily, no facial damage.

NASTY brutes, when they get angry...
