The reasons conservatives like Brooks, Krauthammer and others in the media are jumping all over it is because of how embarrassingly bad his response was. It was eerily similar to Obama's story only it was terribly unconvincing and lacked any shred of empathy (unlike Obama)

Then, on top of that, ithad moments in it that were just most likely concocted, like the nonsense about he being with the sherriff and boats not being able to rescue people since they hadnt had their registration checked. Of course, the sherriff is now dead and there whereabouts of Jindal were apparently elsewhere then where the story had him.

This is truly an opposition party in disarray, and I still want there to be two parties to choose from, not one for sane and one for the insane.

I truly hope the GOP finds itself, and soon. After 8 years of neocon leadership they are lost in the wildnerness

PadCrasher, thanks for the link.

Wow, amazing stuff, yes I watched it. National level conservatives calling Jindal's comments "insane" and other awful things.

Brook's is right. If all the GOP can do is mutter that stale old "government is the problem" nonsense its ludicrous and totally backwards; the mess we're in is because we took the government OUT of the picture on banking regulations, and on energy speculation (Enron Loophole). Hell, even Brooks admits that right now government is the ONLY player big enough to step in and do something about the mess, i.e., no one else can apply funds to credit markets and provide stimulus. Hopefully, true FISCAL conservatives can go Libertarian. GOP = death.

Brooks is one of the ones who went on the junket to Alaska to meet Governor Sarah Palin and came back with stars in his eyes singing her praises. This was long before she was ever considered for VP.

It's amazing how much smarter David has become in the past year.

We'll make a Dan Rather out of him yet.

This is from October:

David Brooks: Sarah Palin "Represents A Fatal Cancer To The Republican Party"

He read her well, by the way.
