I was born and grew up in the north (NYC) but moved and have raised my family in the south (FL and TX).

I much prefer the south. The pace is slower, people are more friendly, ethics and morales seem to still exist. When I go back up north to visit I appreciate all over again how much I love living in the south.

It's different; not necessarily bad though. That's the one great thing about America..the diversity and our choice as to which we prefer.

Texas (especially San Antonio) I like. Florida not so much.I lived close to MacDill AFB and by Wesley Chapel and they hated northerners in ALOT of those areas.Unacceptable in a modern day society.

It depends on where you live in either the north or the south. Inner city Chicago or Detroit are crapholes. So is rural Mississippi.

The way I like to explain this is:
"It's not the same traveling around the US as a white person than as a black person"

Those two groups will feel safe and will be scared to death in different places.

Why do you think the South has a better economy and overall quality of life? If it is true, why do you think it's true? What do you think contributes to it?

He might be confused by the cost of living compared to some areas in the north, but that usually means the jobs aren't paying as well too.

Actually, I was hinting at the political ideology and why people flee liberal states for conservative ones. They don't seem to put together ideology and cost of living.

Raising a family has nothing to do with North or South. It has everything to do with You, the parent.
