The GOP is basically telling a lot of conservatives like me that still exist in the northeast and west coast to hit the road. I am basically left without a party. I can't see my self voting democrat yet. I can't stand them because of the far left and their support of illegal immigration. I still believe in Republican ideals. What are conservatives like me suppose to do?

But this is great. The Democrats need to continue to promote and talk about this reality. The GOP killed its chances for the WH once people got wind of Palin's witch doctoring and watched, horrified, her fear-baiting rallies. Now, we are all watching Limbaugh take it to another level. And, once again, the American people will back away, in even more numbers, from this train wreck of a party. The neo-cons never learn. They never, never learn.
And you would think the huffington post by now would be fully discredited as news...

Being conservative does not mean you belong to the GOP. They are both required to be on the right. He has been harsh on both republicans and democrats and almost all liberals but rarely conservatives.

As the assumption in America is "innocent before proven guilty", I was not saying that Rush WAS dealing. I was just saying that the cops and prosecutors should have investigated him as to whether he was dealing or not, which they did not do, particularly because there was evidence suggesting that possibility.

Certainly there have been examples of overweight celebrities with huge habits, such as Elvis Presley, David Crosby, and Elizabeth Taylor.

As far as we know Rush's stash could have been for his own personal consumption, but the possibility that he may have been involved in sales was never seriously pursued.

Yeah! go ask the ACLU why.... If anything Rush should have sued for illegal confiscation of private records.

It's true; if Rush Limbaugh really is the voice, energy and--who would have believed it possible?--the intellect of the GOP, then all the rest of us here in this country who call ourselves Democrats (or, for that matter, anything other than Republicans) can begin to rest easy.

Now all we need is for him to put his money where is mouth is, declare himself a candidate for the Presidency in 2012, and sit back knowing that a Democratic victory is all but assured.

They simply regurgitate the failed rhetoric of the Bush/Cheney years.

American democracy needs a strong, effective minority party, not a collection of whimpering, short-sighted religious kooks.

I've voted Republican many times in the past. I may never vote for them again, though.
They're "leadership" (I use the term loosely) is so ideologically committed to their dogma they've stopped even thinking critically. Just look at how their response to badly losing two consecutive elections is to become even more extremist. The reality is they're moving even further away from the majority of American voters and that's not a recipe to win elections. I'm afraid they're going to need to lose several more elections before they figure out they need to become less extremist and actually use fact based policies if they want to find their way out of the wilderness.

Isn't it ironic that the ACLU came to Rush's defense? Maybe conservatives who bash the ACLU should start to question their dislike of said organization....
