We sometimes used televised NASCAR racing to provide background noise for an afternoon nap.

Nascar fans will buy just about anything that has their drivers picture or name on it. If say Dale Jrs fan base gets upset with say Kyle Busch they will actually stop buying M& Ms to protest Kyle Buschs actions on the track

There is a very big pay off for sponsors of these cars.

Dupont has people walking around wearing their logo thanks to Jeff Gordon.

People are walking around wearing say National Guard thanks to Jr and Jeff

What better advertising are you going to get?

Hysterical...(and a little bit sad).
"No M&M's today, little ones...Kyle's car 'got loose' and put Dale Jr. into the wall."

Sadly that is very true. They take it very serious.

They will buy products off the cars of the drivers they like

20 Car fans will go to home depot over lowes and the other way around

YEP Case in point, in the past, when Tony Stewart said something off color in an interview or god forbid, bumped Jeff Gordon causing him to wreck during a race, you better believe Nascar nation rolled out an aggressive campaign to boycot Home Depot, which pushed tons of dollars to Lowes and other hardware stores. Extreme Jimmie Johnson fans, or extreme Tony Stewart haters, will drive 10 miles out of their way, passing 2 Home Depots in the process, just to avoid shopping at the HD. Likewise, extreme TS fans wouldn't consider shopping at Lowes. Have to wonder if HD is relieved Tony moved on or if they miss him now that they have very little media time both on and off the track.

You are right. It is very cheap advertising for them. Thats why say Dupont has been with Jeff Gordon for 15 years and Home Depot for what 10 years

For a few million dollars. They have people walking around with their name and logo on them, buying their products.

Nascar fans are very loyal to their drivers so in turn they are loyal to their drivers sponsor.

I was just wondering if anyone else felt the same way.
First you go off on all companies that advertise with NASCAR then you say they can run their business as they like. Take your pick.

Which CEO, or "bigwig" likes car racing? So if Tide advertises on a bill board does that mean that their "bigwig" likes bill boards?
Is it NASCAR you have an objection with or is it advertising in general?

I'm sure since the ARMY is spending your money, they would be happy to hear some alternative advertising ideas that you may have. BTW, what are they?

And of course you can boycott any product you would like, enjoy.
