Hang tough, buddy.
Thank you, my friend. I guess I am so naive, I didn't realize what a minefield I would be stepping in. These people will turn on you with a vengeance. Last fall, the people I talked to were all my buds. Now they would slash your tires. Somehow I don't think conservatives would be like this. When you have truth or your side, you don't have to be. Liberals' harsh words, I think, reveal a basic insecurity that perhaps they, too, have been duped.

I say just admit you were duped, and do your best to change it in two and four years.

Not anymore.

I had thought and been told Obama would govern from the center, pretty much where I am. He did the opposite. Obama has sided solidly with the far-left extremists in my party. He's left the rest of us out in the cold. He's actually starting to make a conservative out of me.

I've always been pretty careful with my finances. I've saved some and I've paid my bills on time. I am horrified that people who haven't made good decisions are getting rewarded over those of us who sucked it up. I am further horrified that Obama has flat out declared war on the stock market and thereby my IRA. He didn't campaign that way. He campaigned for fiscal responsibility, for cutting the fat, for dropping wasteful spending. He preached and preached and preached that last fall. I believed it. Obama lied. Today he talked about his second massive pork bill in six weeks. I am stunned. Not only do I want my money back, I want my vote back. I made a serious mistake. This idiot is in SO far over his head.

I was warned about Sarah Palin. I was told she was totally unprepared to be president. What nobody talked about and should have been talking about is how unprepared Obama was for the top job. Frankly, I feel betrayed by the media. I admit I never watched politics closely until now. I pretty much took the general feeling I gathered from the news. I never thought about one party or another. I just figured the media reported it apolitically, right down the middle. I don't feel that way any more. The media lied to me and laid down on their job to investigate Obama. I don't have the tools or means to investigate anybody. The media does, and I assumed they always dug for the truth, regardless of party. They sure didn't dig the truth out on Obama.

I won't make that mistake again.
I'm glad you denounced the zombies but I do have to say it is always better to watch more than one channel and that is what I did. I watched CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC & FOX NEWS....Only Fox News had fair and balanced coverage. The others were just bashing without telling why...the only thing that was repeated over and over was how bad Bush was and how he lied, but they never came up with proof. Also I have watched overseas news and programs and saw how different Iraq is compaired to when Hussein was still there so I have seen images how the Iraqi's have freedom now and businesses are opening. That is all because of Bush...were there weapons of mass destruction...we never know for sure but there are ways to move them and I believe that is what happened. And even if they weren't there the world is better of without Hussein since he wired money through Switzerland through Hamas which they used for weapons....

I'm happy you realized you were wrong and very brave to write about it.
Don't forget it isn't too late, there will be new elections and Obama will fight for the title "worse president" with Jimmy Carter slightly in front of him right now.

Approximately this time next year, you will realize you were DEAD RIGHT in voting for Obama!

Right now, you are simply SCARED, because times are really hard, and the daily economic news is mostly bad.

The stock market has fallen substantially from it's Oct 2007 peak.

These conditions already existed on the day Obama took office. He did not create them.

Obama is an EXTREMELY smart and pragmatic man. We are very lucky to have him as our president.

The problem is, Republicans don't want what's best for our country. They only want what's best for Republicans.

So Republicans will use words like SOCIALISM over and over (sort of reminds you of COMMUNISM), to install FEAR into your brain.

Shows like RUSH LIMBAUGH are known for this. They are great at BRAINWASHING the masses.

Try actually listening to what Obama says himself, and not what others say about him.

You will see that Obama is a genuinely caring person, who wants to make America better for EVERYONE ... not just the wealthy.

No previous president has ever had to face the extremely difficult challenges Obama took on when he assumed the presidency.

And we are extremely lucky to have such a smart man analyzing the situation, listening to advice from the world's leading economists, and making the difficult choices he is currently making.

The economy will not improve overnight ... if that was what you thought.

It will take months and months for the changes Obama has put into place, to work their way into the system.

So until then, we will still have a bumpy ride ahead.

From your posts, I see two possibilities:
- You're one of those who are easily swayed by the media and tend to avoid using your own observation and logic (and this doesn't change all of a sudden)
- You did not vote for Obama

Please tell me it is the latter! Having said that, media sheeple are unlikely to vote democrat. Just see the ratings that conservative talk shows and Fox News get.

You are using the very same talking points that those outlets spew.

I have listened to Obama . I have heard that hes going to increase taxes cause our elec bills to skyrocket. NONE Of that is going to be good for our economy

No matter how much you all wish that he is going to recreate the Clinton years. Unless he has some kinda dot.com bubble that isnt going to happen.

As far as Obama this great caring person. I just dont buy it sorry. I see him allowing his aunt to live in Slums his brother live in on a dollar a mth. I see Obama telling us to sacrifice while he has having weekly parties. If he really cared about Americans he would show some compassion and not be having weekly parties while Americans are suffering.

Its not just republicans using words like socialism try newsweek using that also and now the times.

What difficult decision has Obama really made? Its not hard to just spend money that isnt yours.

Hey dont blame me I told you to vote for Ron Paul :-)
Have to get the bumper stick ready.

I know Ron Paul voted down every stimilus bill even when bush was in office. Troops probably would be on their way home by now.
Ron Paul I know for sure that when he put his hand on the bible and gave the presidental oath, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States he actually would have meant it.
You also would have seen him push for the income tax to be removed asap and get rid of the federal reserve system. Or phase it out and let gold and silver compete against it.

But no you idiots had to vote for mccain and obama. Its really a shame.

Actually, Obama did create these economic problems for several reasons.
1) He was a senator for two years who did not vote against one single pork bill
2) He was heavily involved in the mortgage scandal, being one of the top recipients of Fannie Mae contributions despite being in office for a short time in relation to the others who received them.

I'm figuring out that it's the Democrats who want what's best for Democrats, and Repubicans who want what's best for the country.
Rush explained it this way; if the government gets smaller as Republicans want, politicians and general have less power. When government gets bigger as Democrats want, more people become dependent and look to the government for help. Democrats are exchanging giving out goodies for votes.

Obama is not a smart man, and he's listening to "economists" with a leftist agenda. This, again, according to media other than the mainstream networks. He is ignoring tried-and-proven principles of fiscal responsibility and tax cuts advocated by Milton Friedman and others.

Sorry to disappoint, but you are wrong on all counts. My change of opinion has come precisely from observation ---observation of my own stock portfolio and IRA going to hell.

I've sought out various news sources to find out why this is happening. It's opened up an entirely active energizing way of thinking for me. Before, I was asleep and questioned nothing. I just took the networks' word for it. I accepted their default position of liberalism. Now, I actively think, question, and observe. And it's led to me to the conclusions I am now drawing.

The secret is surprisingly apparent. Politiicans are broken down into two categories. Those who place America first and those who place themselves first.

I am firmly convinced George Bush placed the country first. He truly believed there was a big terrorist threat, and protecting this country was his number one job. He believed in accomplishing that preemptively. Not only did he protect us, but he converted a huge enemy into a capitalist friend in Iraq. And he stood his ground, ignoring popularity, and trading all his political capital. I am becoming more and more convinced Bush was a great man for that alone.

Democrats, on the other hand, seem intent on cementing their power for decades to come by undoing welfare reform and keeping generations of people dependent for generations to come. They dont seem to care that the economy is going down the sewer. They're happy if that fact makes people want government even more.

You are right. It is scary how venomous they are and remember how some were physical attacking McCain supporters!

I'm trying to view Obama being in the White House as a win/win.

He will either be sucessful in turning our country around and prove once and for all that liberal, big government, high tax, punish achievers, pro welfare for the lazy policies work (doubtful) or he will fail in spectacular fashion.

If he suceeds and we are all better off I'll give him my grudging respect and praise. I'll be happy to admit I've been wrong.

If he fails I think it will be the death blow to the far left and will end the era of welfare and handouts. The political relevance of people like Pelosi, Ried, Kennedy, Cynthia McKinney will end once and for all.

To capitalize on Obama's failures the Republicans need to find a TRUE Republican cantidate in 2012. Small government, low taxes for EVERYONE, crack down on the borders, lose the fundie evangelical BS.
