There is no irony in it TnHilltopper. We get indignant because number one, it is not a right. No where in the Constitution or Bill or Rights does it say you as an American citizen have the right to free health care. You have a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness but it doesnt say the gov't will subsidize your pursuit, just that won't interefere.

Number two. You have free will. If you are irresponsible and make repeatedly bad decisions, you do not deserve health care. I'm sorry but if you have three children before the age of twenty-one - No! Absolutely not. I'm not rewarding bad decisions.

People need to figure our they are responsible for themselves. If you fall down, pick your own sorry rump up. That's why we become indignant. If you can afford a monthy weave, a cable bill, AC and cell phone bill, maybe your priorities are screwed up. If you can afford a lifted F150, a dozen of rifles, over a grand in fishing equipment, and a boat... Hmmmm, they need to get their priorities straight too.

I work in corporate America and if they took my health care away, they are not only effectively slashing my salary but are additionally increasing my costs per year.

Anyways - Obama said he wanted to bring bipartisanship to Washington, and he may succeed here — by annoying both Democrats and Republicans.

Default I can't believe it

I really can't believe that Obama would do that to the veterans when he is talking about national health care for everyone else, next thing you know he will be cutting other VA benefits like va home loans

For Pete's sake, he didn't do it! He was never going to do what the OP claimed, and the idea of having the vets use their own health ins. to the extent that they could before using their VA benefits was dropped quite some time ago.

I work at VA, was stunned at the rudeness, abuse and downright threatening behavior the younger Vets display toward US the staff! Like anywhere else, treat others as you wish to be treated. I did not send you into active duty-only here to help. A pipe bomb was found on property with the intent to blow the hospital up; including their buddies, and geriactric and Alzheimer patients. I do not feel safe at work in a Federal hosptial BECAUSE of the vets themselves.DRUGS and booze are rampant, SO much $ is spent on rehab and they go right back to it once the weather is good enough to be discharged. Yes, they admit themselves for shelter OR to avoid their warrants so they can hide from municipal police. Their families aren't much better, either! They smuggle contraband in DURING rehab. THIS might be prompting Obama. I come from a military family ALL branches and am disgusted by the lack of respect and disregard for regulations they flaunt. The excuse? "YOU owe ME, I'm a vet." Yes, and I'm another human as well as a tax-payer too. I don't want to pay for treatment for rude, threatening ingrates. BTW; MOST of the employees ARE vets as well. Has anyone asked THESE vets how THEY feel about working conditions?

Could there be anything more politically insensitive and tone-deaf from this incompetent administration?

I mean, we all know how much the left despises the military, but this is beyond the pale.
Shouldn't conservatives be applauding this measure? I mean government insurance if socialist is not? I mean why should they have a RIGHT to healthcare? I mean I am often told that healthcare is not a right and that it's communist and un-American to think otherwise. I mean honestly Obama is throwing the conservatives a bone here and helping to put a stop to socialism! Yes oh the sweet nectar of liberty!

Uh-oh you might want an umbrella because there's about to be a shi!tstorm coming your way. Don't dare insult the troops! The glorious troops.

But seriously I served in the military, the Marine Corps to be exact. And there were some great people there, some good human beings. Some honest, upright honorable people. However, there were a lot of people that weren't so great. I mean I know some messed up people in the service. I work in Corrections now and I often say that the biggest difference between the inmates I supervise now and the Marines I served with then was the color of their uniform.
