Again we had a post this week about the FAIR tax and many posters on here keep complaining about the "confiscatory" tax rates in the US. Of course those that can use a calculator and read their 1040 know this isn't true, but like any right wing talking point it gets believed by lots of folks.

I got my return back from my CPA this morning and it was an astounding TEN POINT THREE PERCENT! 10.34% to be exact! No I'm not a miniumum wage slave, no I don't earn so little that I collect food stamps or AFDC. Our taxable income was $800 shy of being SIX DIGITS.

Whaaaa, whaaa, the Obama socialists are taking everything away from me. Nope, it's just another righty talking point.

The 38% my small family business pays is not a talking point. My gross income was slightly less than yours...I only wish my taxes were 10.3%. I would settle for 20.3% and be tolerant at this point. When you work for someone else the tax structure is not unbearable, but owning a small company puts one big target on your back for the IRS.

So your denying that Obama has campaigned upon raising individuals taxes? Or are you denying that they are now talking about closing "loopholes" that your obviously using to get a 10.34% tax bracket which would be indeed be a tax increase..

All your posting did was point out how "the rich" get loop holes and pay less taxes than the middle class and some of the poor who dont get these credits because the federal tax rate for those earning $99,200 = 28% or $27,776, you paid or which you paid $10,257.28, meaning you received $17,518 in tax credits for "loop holes"... Yeah, you pay the extra $17,518 being proposed and then claim you didnt get a tax increase.. good grief..

Thank Bush! Obama's plan hasn't gone into effect.

There are more taxes than income tax. You may not pay higher income tax under Obama's plan, but he wants you to pay at the pump and on your power bill etc.

There is no 10.34% tax bracket. You are talking about the effective rate I presume.

Good thing he has an accountant do his taxes! It's obvious he's not much good with numbers or comprehending tax credits and deductions.

I only wonder if he had the same accountant as Tom Daschle or Charles Rangel...

Thats right its the government thats bankrupting everyone. It has nothing to do with the 800 dollar a month health insurance bill. This whole right wing rhetoric is nothing but BS!

If you feel that you needed to donate more to Uncle Sam you can reduce your number of deductions and give until it hurts.

I surely hope you realize that your 2008 taxes were a courtesy of lower tax rates in 2008 and will go up (and already have) in 2009 and 2010. Your safest plan is to drastically cut your income in 2009 to help reduce your taxes.
