A good drug dealer might pay that in a day. That guy in Florida admitted to spending $1 million a day on girls, booze, cars, clothes, boats, airplanes, etc. and he still had millions buried in the basement. Most of his purchases were taxable.

Think of it this way - if Joe Druggie was not buying drugs, he would spend it on something else and pay the taxes. The fact that he chooses to give it to Joe the Drug Dealer (and let him spend it) does not mean that the funds are not ultimately taxed in some form. It is strictly timing. Not enough reason to legalize drugs in my mind.
Yes, I understand this. People with more money buy more things than people with less money. My problem is your claim that "they have a higher effective tax rate." The net taxes paid may be greater, but the rate doesn't change.

I can respect that, but I don't want government making these types of moral decisions. Prostitution is not a crime, in the moral sense. There is no victim. The act is entered into by two willing parties.

40% of Americans have an effective Federal tax rate of zero. Simply semantics at this point.

Stop trying to obfuscate.

You were using sales tax as the indicator. Sales tax is not federal, nor is it progressive. I understand you made a semantic goof. No problem. Move on.

C'mon, about half the price you pay for anything goes to the government: corporate taxes, sales taxes, fuel taxes, etc, etc, etc. And that doesn't even take into account the effect government regulations have in limiting competition and innovation, thus driving prices upward even further.

of course as our government gets into gambling, drugs and prostitution, we have a name for individuals that do this sort of work. the activity and the title fit like a shoe doncha.

moral issue? so what do you suppose we do with men/ women who cheat on their spouses? stoning? public beheadings? what do you suppose we do with your son/ daughter who has premarital intercourse? what about couples who use birth control? castration perhaps?
there is a place on earth where your narrow view of the world is well accepted, maybe you'll be happier there!

Huh? I have no idea what this means.

Outside of state lotteries (which we've never had in Nevada), the government isn't in the gambling business. Those who do that sort of work are called casino employees.

I don't know of any government run drug companies, legal or illegal. Those who do legal drug work are called by many names: Pharmaceutical workers, doctors, nurses, pharmacists. Those who do illegal drug work are called dealers, pushers or "the connect."

Those engaged in prostitution are called prostitutes. Hookers and street walkers are also used. The item that "fit[s] like a shoe" is usually a four inch stilletto pump.

so you have no problem with the government infringing on the civil liberties of others as long as they don't infringe on yours. how convenient. limited government has become a pipedream because people like you encouraged that government to trample over the constitution to forward your ideology. the powers of search, seizure, asset forfeiture are wildly abused while you and your ilk stand by and cheer!

way to go big man, now they're coming to get you!
