Instead of gun bans, we should try the SWISS SOLUTION: Home storage of fully automatic assault rifles... for everyone.

Military guns
There are about 200,000 Swiss men who undertake military service in
annual courses of 2-4 weeks. They are permitted to keep their military weapon at home. ... A further 1.5 million military guns are estimated to belong to former militiamen.

1.7 million "assault rifles". Switzerland - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
7.5 million population
1.7 million full auto military rifles / 7.5 million population = "armed to the teeth"
" In a word, Switzerland, which is awash in guns, has substantially lower murder and robbery rates than England, where most guns are banned.
" Besides the [Swiss] militia system requiring automatic rifles and/or semiautomatic pistols to be kept in the homes of all males aged 20 to 42, firearms are readily available for purchase in gun shops. Yet firearms are rarely used in violent crime. Notes Clinard, "These facts contrast strikingly with the belief that a low criminal homicide rate is due to strict firearms regulations." Homicide is tied to a willingness to resort to violence, not the mere presence of firearms..."
LOL, don't you just HATE them blanket statements. Well we "right" leaning types are tired of being labeled as ignorant bubbas in overalls with no teeth as well. When was the last time you saw someone with absolutely no intelligenge work out a trig problem for a thousand yard shot in high wind? Maybe some folks need to take a stepback aye? As to mods for full auto fire, it's a bit more twitchy to convert an M1A or AR-15 for full auto than just filing a sear. It's hardly a "snap". Even the Semi auto AK's take a bit more effort (and it's been around since... when? LOL) to make select fire than a file and a screwdriver. Oh you might get full auto out of one that way, but, it won't quit shooting when you let off the trigger. Take a deep seat and a faraway look if you want to "convert" a semi to full without the proper parts.
I never said you could convert any weapon by filing the sear. Those are your words.
A conversion also requires changing springs and such, and the length of the action may preclude conversion. Those are my words.
If there is a collaspe of the economy and social unrest comes about then every man will be glad to be armed to protect his family. With China spending dollars to buy commidities (oil, food, and raw materials) getting rid of the USD as we are printing more ( credit easing) Foreign countries are not showing up at the FED's auctions on the treasuries and the Fed is buying our on Debt. ( treasuries) how long can you spend and print your on debt. Seventy percent of the US dollars are phycially held out of the US. As we start devaluing the dollar those countries are not going to get caught with nothing. They will send the whole mess home to us, at that time our economy collaspes then try to buy food with worthless paper. Yea things could get rough fast.
Because on this board you ain't a man unless you CLAIM to have a gun and CLAIM to have used it to fight off the predators that assault all our families on a weekly basis.
LMAO, same ol' churchy, tryin' to provoke personal conflict and get the gun rights threads locked. The issue is the 2nd amendment my "Naval service veteran" friend. Thus we discuss our views of the issue, and some times, we draw on personal experience to do so. Some of us CAN do that. Relying on links to We Hate Guns Inc and slinging rancid invective, is not "debating" the issue. And DC is STILL not the majority in terms of gun rights. . Welcome to America..............
The internet is a great way to be the badass you always wanted to be but never had the guts to be. Letem have those delusions.
Greatday is a SEAL, Green Beret, who has shot hundreds of home invaders in an area of Arizona where even lizards are in short supply, pays not taxes because he is an ordained minister, but has no visible means of support. Oh did I mention his gun collection?

I think that's great along with the fact that all the Swiss are actually in their equivalent of the National Guard and actually trained on how to use the weapons. Letting Joe Sixpack run around and play Rambo isn't the Swiss approach.
