I agree with others who have asked why cure something that is not a disease? And lets be clear.....long before there is a 'cure' in utero for homosexuality there will be the option to abort probable homosexual fetuses.
And that brings up an interesting point....
What would the bigger 'sin' be? Aborting a gay baby or giving birth to one?
hold up now - I never said homesexuality was a disease or that anything is a disease - I simply said that if you can find something and cure it or prevent it then you can also cause it---at that point embryo or womb --- nothing is there...sooooo
I simply say do not engineer a baby - no designer babies - this is not a religious stance or anything like that - I simply say let nature take its course. If a baby is gay, left handed, can hit a curve ball, is shy, is stupid, or brown haired ---
I do not believe in engineering human beings.\
Hitler wanted to that - master race thing all --- I don't even care if it is that evil an extreme or an altruistic reason; cancer free, IQ over 180, whatever - let nature be nature.
I disagree. If we have the SCIENCE we should use it to better mankind. I will say this- I was not really happy when I first began to notice that my son, when he was a baby, favoured using his left hand. Not because it was a "disease" but I knew he would grow up in a world dominated by right handed people and it would set him back. In the neo capitalist competitive society we live in, people need every advantage they can possibly get. If a doctor said "we can put this in the womb and make sure your boy is right handed", I certainly would have said "by all means, inject it!". Not because I dislike left handed people or think it is a disease but because I loved him enough to want him to have as normal a life as possible.
If the prospect of having a left handed son had you in a tizzy, I can't imagine what will happen if your boy doesn't like sports, or has problems with math, or likes alternative music or in any way deviates from 'the norm'. Which really is just what you perceive to be the norm, after all.
As to lefties, I thought you would be interested to see how others coped with being abnormal:
Left-Handed U.S. Presidents
James A. Garfield (1831-1881) 20th
Herbert Hoover (1874-1964) 31st
Harry S. Truman (1884-1972) 33rd
Gerald Ford (1913- ) 38th
Ronald Reagan (1911 - ) 40th
George H.W. Bush (1924- ) 41st
Bill Clinton (1946- ) 42nd
Barack Obama (1961- ) 44thFamous Left-Handers
Quite an interesting list, especially when they get to athletes and actors.
I guess my point would be that to be outside the norm is hardly something that regulates a person to obscurity or dysfunction. What it does is make life more interesting. And as an experienced mother, let me give you some advice -- your son will at some point be/do something that is abnormal. He will not always 'fit in'. It is your job to assure him that he still has worth.

I agree. Homosexuality is not a disease or inborn trait. Even if it were, aborting the baby would be wrong ... pure and simple.
Well I'd do my part by getting knocked up with about 10 litters of homos just to try to balance things out and hopefully they'll have 10 more gay kids each ...who have 10 more gay kids...
Of course that would be contributing to overpopulation even more but eh....I'd be doing my part to **** off the Religious Right which is priceless.
Of course I agree with some posters who say homosexuality is not a disease.
It would be quite interesting if all these parents who tried to make a heterosexual child ended up with a gay one by "mistake."
