The no-fly list is a sprawling mess. One problem is that the list includes "aliases" of "potentially dangerous" individuals. This includes very common names like "David Nelson," "Gary Smith," "John Williams," and "Robert Johnson." Some of those names were suspected aliases of 70's-era radicals who are now dead. The list is so gigantic that it is fundamentally useless to law enforcement, since it contains so many false-positives, and since an actual terrorist on the list would almost certainly fly under an alias anyway.

That would still be entirely unconstitutional, to strip people of rights without being convicted of a crime.

Like all other technologies it was spawned off of military intentions

USSR launches Sputnik, first artificial earth satellite. In response, US forms the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA (http://www.arpa.mil/ - broken link)), the following year, within the Department of Defense (DoD) to establish US lead in science and technology applicable to the military

The ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network) developed by ARPA of the United States Department of Defense during the Cold War, was the world's first operational packet switching network, and the predecessor of the global Internet.

I think I'm starting to get the picture w/you. Anything that may hinder getting your paws on a gun, you cry foul. However, if it's someone's basic right to privacy or equal rights for whatever reason, you could care less. Gotcha.

The Gumbint already killed the Constitution when they decided to target a group of people and retroactively punish them with taxes. This sets the precident. If they get away with it (no public outcry) then they sit in their nice little offices and think "next."

IF the no-fly list was really accurate I can see why anyone on it should be forbidden from bearing arms or flying on planes. But it is so inacurate. I have a friend with a common Anglo-Saxon first and last name and he is on the list and has trouble every time he boards a plane (so why have a no fly list as he is allowed?.. but I digress)! I bet someone named John Smith is on that list and all other John Smiths are flagged.
