"Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman Loera reported head of the Sinaloa cartel in
Mexico, ranked 701st on Forbes' yearly report of the wealthiest men alive, and
worth an estimated $1 billion, today officially thanked United States politicians
for making sure that drugs remain illegal. According to one of his closest
confidants, he said, "I couldn't have gotten so stinking rich without George
Bush, George Bush Jr., Ronald Reagan, even El Presidente Obama, none of
them have the cajones to stand up to all the big money that wants to keep
this stuff illegal. From the bottom of my heart, I want to say, Gracias amigos, I owe my whole empire to you."

I'm sure they are all very happy that we spend billions of dollars, sacrifice freedoms, and stuff our prisons full of nonviolent offenders, all so that they and the Drug War Bureaucracy, which are essentially mutualistic, can go home with a profit.

It's funny how drug dealers are always saying no please don't legalize or decriminalize and nobody asks why

I've heard before that the drug cartels are some of the biggest contributors to the War On (some) Drugs being launched from within America. If Americans could grow their own pot the cartels would shrivel, prisons would empty and countless lives would be saved....both from prison (which breeds further criminal behavior) and from drug related violence.

I'm not sure how bad it's *going* to get before the politicians follow the people's lead on this one.

Conservatism at one point stood for personal responsibility and individual freedoms from government. When will we see the Republican/Conservative party return to what made them the dominant political party for years ?
