Gates: U.S. Not Prepared to Respond to North Korea Missile Launch
Gates: U.S. Not Prepared to Respond to North Korea Missile Launch
I guess we already knew the Obama dministration is not ready for squat. Nothing new about that! Maybe the great orator Obama will load up his teleprompter and pay a visit to the North Korean dictator and talk him out of developing nuclear weapons. Yep, that should work!
Sounds like Gates is frustrated. Could be he already has his desk cleaned out...

Kootr there you go spewing your venom again. Considering North Korea lauched a missle about two years ago, the questions is, whey weren't we prepared then and why haven't we prepared after. Three months in and Obama was suppose to walk through the door with a blueprint for North Korea when the last administrations did not.
Yeah ok..

Kootr
I am not a fan of Obama's foreign policy. We have BMD technology (thanks to Bush) and I think we should shoot down anything that North Korea launches. But you have to realize that North Korea has threatened war if we shoot it down. The South Koreans (and not Americans) will bear the brunt of it. They (South Korea) should have the final say on whether or not we shoot it down unless it is clearly aimed at Japan or US territory. Maybe the South Korean government asked Obama not to escalate the situation?

THe 2006 Long range missile launch fortunately failed (so we didn't have to shoot it down). We were prepared to do it then, and we are unprepared NOW.
So do you see the point of the OP now?
As well, the IRANIANS are working with them, they have a 15 man team helping them... do you see a connection to Iranian hopes of nuclear tipped missiles????????
YOU think that there is a connection????? It's not Rocket Science.
OR is it.

Thank you Dr No, for diverting attention from the global financial meltdown. Hillary Clinton has denounced the impending space launch as a 'provocation'. Gates and other officials have warned that the Taepodong-2 missile could have a range as far reaching as Alaska. This could endanger one of America's treasured assets Sarah Palin.
Realistically, North Korea poses only a serious threat to Japan and South Korea. Why North Korea would risk nuclear annihilation remains unexplained.
The navy fearful that congress may torpedo its request for new warships, has positioned two Aegis class destroyers off Korea. The army fearful of stolen glory has positioned its Patriot 3 interceptor missiles in Japan on high alert.
Kim Jong il wasted no time this spring to renew his constant threats of turning South Korea into a 'sea of fire'. Kim doesn't want war, he wants to continue to use nuclear blackmail to shake more money from the U.S, China, Japan, and South Korea. Countries that would prefer the funds to stay at home rather than feed the Kim dynasty.
This global recession is making Kim cranky perhaps the U.S may want to consider lifting its ban on delivery of french wines and hollywood movies to calm his temper tantrum.

A good % of our missile defense system is in Alaska, I think she'll be okay.
