My state of Arkansas is considering a bill that would ban domestic partnership registries...despite only ONE city having such a registry and the couples that choose to participate not getting ANY rights from the state.
The only thing that is possible is getting your partner covered under your health insurance plan from your PRIVATE employer.
The register is mainly symbolic though.
In any case....West Virginia recently rejected an anti-gay amendment to their constitution.
I know same-sex marriage is pretty much banned in the state because of the "Defense" of Marriage Act but it sends a pretty good message that they didn't want to amend their constitution to discriminate against gay and lesbian couples.
