Personally, I think you're making way to big a deal over the differences between our two countries... We pay more taxes, and get more services. You pay less and get less. It's really as simple as that.

Agree this really isnt about Canada is much as it the united states. Maybe Canada is less corrupt who knows but in America I prefer less taxes and I expect less from my government. Problem is we pay more then enough and government never delivers on their promises so I don't trust them to do that ever. I trust myself and a "truly free market" for a solution.

Thats fine and good.
But you brought up Canada in the thread title, so expect it to peak the interest of Canadians. We are a sensitive bunch sometimes.
I do agree with you on some points however, so not all is lost.
