It wouldn't be the lobbyists, but the people who pay the salaries of the lobbyists.

And the lobbyists and the people who pay them are only dealing with one aspect of the elite power structure---the political system.

There's also an economic system, the media, the educational system, etc.

So, it's not quite that cut and dried.

Default lobbyists

Our representatives, who pull the lever on votes, represent the constituents with the biggest wallet. They are doing their job!

If you think about it, how is it possible our representatives actually represent the feeling of their constituents ? Would everyone in your family have the same political outlook? The default position for a congressman or senator is to go with the organized business reps with the highest political profile. Legislators exchange votes for votes in order to deliver pet projects. That is why you see bizzare things get passed. It is truly quid pro quo gone wrong. The system is ok but the players have corrupted it.

We don't like what we see, we can wait 4 years to perhaps change one player in the system. That is tantamount to voter disenfranchisement.

You have to ask who and why do home voters keep a Kennedy or Frank or Dodd in power for so long? Probably because they bring more tax money back to thier states. So much for public distaste for earmarks.

Quoting Steve Buscemi in "Armageddon", how about The Lowest Bidder?

You'd also have to consider The Media

Who really runs the US?

Obviously not ME or all this crap would be fixed with a whole lot of politically incorrect common sense old fashioned solutions.

I voted "other". The bankers run the US.

He who owns the money gets to make the rules.

Big Money and Big Government run the show. They all eat, drink and screw together and provide jobs, loans and deals for each other.

The best you can do is to just grab some of the action.

That works for me, politics aside.
