Funny you should mention that. I remember on watching a show on VH1 a year or two ago called "Ego Trip" which had a humorous take on race relations. On the episode about interracial relationships, it was said that Asian males and Black women are the least likely to date interracially with anyone. So this Asian guy declared in a funny way that he would be "down with the sistas". LOL I certainly would support more movies like that one with Jet Li and Aaliyah (RIP). As a black guy, that would certainly take the pressure off me.

The Asian man/Black women pairing is one that in all my years I honestly can't recall ever seeing. But, yes, on the internet, there seems to be an interest expressed by both parties. And at times for the very reason you mentioned.
As far as out in the world, it always seemed to me that other than black men, the race/ethnicity they seem most drawn to is Hispanic men. As far as Asian men, other than media stereotype, I do think the lack of aggressiveness inevitably plays a part in their relative exclusion from the interracial dating pool.
As far as with white women, I think that the aggressiveness of the black man and Hispanic man can work against them as well as for them. Aggressiveness in itself is not necessarily a guarantee of dating success. For instance, a white woman may encounter some very forward or aggressive Hispanic men. In addition, she may get 'cat calls' by a group of Hispanic men while walking down the street. She may date some and reject most approaches by numerous Hispanic. She may reject them all, even in a smug fashion. And then come summer time, her and her friend will run off to Acapulco or Cancun.
The aggressive Hispanic men she rejected, because she just didn't like them personally. She may even make negative comments at times about Hispanic men's over-aggressiveness to other women. But what has happened is, even though the Hispanic men who have approached her were unsuccessful, they have in fact given her an interest in Hispanic men. They've in essence set someone else from their race up for success with her. Unlike the Asian male, our media has allowed the image of the Rico Suave hyper-sexual Latino. So some white women will reason that if Latin or Hispanic men are this aggressive, then if they go to a place where there are many of them (like Latin America), there's a chance that the Latin playboy type that she would be interested in will make an aggressive (yet suave) approach.
Thus, the many single white females drinking pina coladas on a bar stool at one of the numerous Mexican resorts.

...it wouldn't have anything to do with the climate, environment, and/or advertising would it?
The "latin lover" phenom was a thing of the late 80's and early 90's. It has pretty much passed now. Ladies? A couple of men speculating on what you're attracted to is like asking directions in a pub full of drunken Irishmen. We might have a good time and all but I doubt we're going to get anywhere

Many Asian men are highly against their portrayal. There's also an Asian media watch group, can't remember the name. One of the problems with the negative image portrayal in it's being a hard nut to crack as far as it's removal, is that it's a luxury Americans in general don't want to lose. For instance, in comedy, the Asian with the funny accent running a family shop, or the geeky college side-kick nerd are a part of our cinematic repetoire. It's something a movie can always fall back on when needing a comedy scene. It's removal could be something like removing the double-entendre because French Americans are offended. In the very old movies, we used to use the 'black man scared of ghosts' for comedy. It was for the most part eventually removed because of the offense it brought to black Americans, but it was a part of our repetoire. It probably was not removed too quickly by just a few signs of protest.
These ethnic stereotypes are media luxuries at a whole race's expense.

I'm sure climate, food, etc. plays a part for sure.
I don't think it's speculating on what all women like. But to say the phenom is over, isn't that speculating a smite?

Compared to the way it was back then? Certainly it is. I'm not saying there is no longer an attraction, I'm just saying you probably will not see "Rico Suave" revive his career anytime soon, lol.

I still think if you were to go to Cabo, or Mazatlan this summer, walk over to the bar area, you will see a fair number of white single females. If they're there to take a vacation away from male pursuance, a Mexican resort is probably not a good place to vacation.
Rico Suave may be washed up as far as a WWE gimmick, but I think he still gets a considerable amount of action.

Ya lost me there, WWE? Wrestling?
Rico Suave was a song from "Gerardo" first I think.
Don't even begin to ask me why I remember that, lol. That guy has been made fun of POSSIBLY more than Bush.

Hmm. I never heard of him. Ricky Martin is the only latin male pop star I can think of other than of course Julio Eglesias.
As far as WWE, I think there was a few gimmicks used about the time you mentioned of either suave or macho/suave Latinos like Razor Ramon. I think there may of actually of been a Rico Suave in the WWE. I think the gimmick overall has died.
