This time at the American Civic Association in Binghamton, NY. So far, CNN is reporting 4 dead, and 20 people being held captive by the shooter.

Here's the description of the American Civic Association (http://www.unitedwaybroome.org/pages/Member%20Agencies/American_Civic_Association.htm - broken link) from the local United Way site:

Quote:
Assists immigrants and refugees with immigration and personal counseling, resettlement, citizenship, family reunification, interpreters, and translators. Fosters cross cultural understanding for the entire community.
I see three possibilities:

1. It's a crazy person and the location is random
2. It's an immigrant angry about his/her situation
3. It's a right-winger taking out his rage on immigrants.

Let's all hope that it's over soon, and that it's just a crazy person.

[Update: at least one account that the shooter is a young, Asian male.]

Violence like this happens all the time. However it wouldn't surprise me, given the current economic situation and the public's diapproval of government across the country, if someone somewhere blows a gasket and takes it out on the common folk in a fit of rage. We already know that crime increases as economic conditions worsen. The difference this time, in my opinion, is the sheer number of jobless coupled with mass corruption in business and government. I think its only a matter of time. It wouldn't be the first time.

You forgot 1. It could be a crazy left winger angry over Obama's broken promises.
