He wasn't a member of those groups. And even if he was, it's no excuse of any sort to do what was done to him and his family.

They're not but under 18" barrel length you need to pay a $200 tax for no real reason. The NFA was originally going to ban (by taxing them out of reach of all but the rich) handguns but it couldn't pass with handguns listed so they were removed from the list. The short barrel shotgun and rifle rules were to prevent making handguns from long guns. So, completely silly that they are regulated like that (or yeah, and the NFA originally only applied to firearms taken across statelines, a.k.a., interstate commerce. The feds have usurped the regulation of intrastate commerce from the states).

So to sum up, Weaver's child and wife were murdered in a million+ dollar raid over a $200 tax on a gun whose barrel was a bit shorter than 18 inches which makes no sense since handguns were removed from the NFA before it passed making the SBS/SBR regulations absurd, and of course, he was found not guilty of the charges against him.

That is what I'm saying. The government used smear tactics to attempt to justify their raid. Convince everyone the people are evil so people don't get upset over the murder/etc. Typical government behavior. The accusations were never proven, and in fact, the so-called witnesses who were used were in many instances found to be lying.
