Um how exactly do you READ porn? If they had a few books on porns history, the fight for and against it, or a book written about it by an ex-porn star then yah I would be ALL for those things being there.
III. Libraries should challenge censorship in the fulfillment of their responsibility to provide information and enlightenment.
I was just asking because of rule III....."How do you READ porn"... porn is in the eyes of the reader.....
And as he slowly took her down and placed his ...in.....Like that!

I see nothing wrong with steamy romance type books. If their too steamy just require that they can only be checked out by an adult, however...that could get complicated...very quickly.
Guys, while I appreciate your discussion about librarians, this thread is not about that. Get back on topic, please.
Yac.
Okay Yac. I'll help with that because I had an interesting conversation with someone yesterday regarding this original topic...
I visited an old friend yesterday whose DD graduated from my old high school last year, which I had mentioned was on the list of participating high schools for the day of silence. Interestingly enough, although they participated it seems that the administration is so homo-phobic that when she and her girlfriends (as in buddies) would walk down the hall with arms linked, or holding hands they would get sent to the principal's office.
I was shocked at this and asked why. She was told that it sent the "wrong message" and appeared to be a certain relationship, even if it was not. I thought it was rather sad too, because my DD's and their friends hug all the time, and say "I love you!" when they have to go home. My girlfriends and I were saying that it would have been nice if it were like that when we were teenagers.
Any of you see similar dichotomies or hypocrisies?

(BTW - Gizmo980, you're a sketch...)
Thanks, I think. (does "sketch" mean funny? Never heard that term!)
And in regards to the rest of your post, I agree that is sad... are people so afraid of homosexuality, that we're not allowed to be affectionate in a platonic way either? That's pathetic.

Well, that's not "porn", it's considered Romance fiction - which we not only carry in the library, but often shelve it with the Teen section. Did you read my responses to your original question? (saying that we do have sexually-themed materials, if the librarian believes it contributes to our collection) And to keep it on the subject, we don't censor gay materials either, especially in this city.
P.S. Sorry to get so off-topic Yac, but it was kinda related to the original question! And I promise, that was my last post about libraries.
why lock it up, threaten only if they do not get back on topic which is over by the way, April 18th
